World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can increase the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as Crit chance and PvE Damage.
For instance a weapon that has the upgrade template that ends in % will suffer an attack damage of 3% each time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with item's level.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into weapons, armor, and trinkets in order to provide an additional stat boost or effect when they're used. These can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors trading or looting. Some upgrades have special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot for them. The item must be at least upgraded to the blue level in order for the component to be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied once. They are not able to be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment, as well as some of the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging gear from the ascended, or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, thereby changing the name of the item it is used on (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia',' changes to Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, which lets players create stronger versions with the smallest amount of Upgrade crystals than they would require to achieve the same level using standard methods.
A boost upgrade can alter the defense or attack attributes of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be made from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene, and defeats the Crazed Mechanic. They can be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear or buying them from the cash store for 500 upgrade crystals per.
The player is able to have a maximum of five boost upgrades at one time. Each upgrade increases the likelihood that a better-quality version of the item will drop at the time of the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to keep upgrading their gear, even if they're unsure of how much it will improve following a subsequent reset.
The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process can be costly and there is a high possibility that the item will become obsolete or even break if it fails; a failed upgrade will cause the destruction of Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder, as well as the upgraded item. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items that can increase or even eliminate the chance of failure, and a few upgrades that give a bonus when reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to enhance the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets that are specifically designed for. Glyphs boost the power of nodes within a radius, which includes any existing attaches. Each Glyph has a certain range of values it can improve a stat by. The value is shown when you choose the Glyph in your inventory. You can replace it with a Glyph of the same rank or higher rank, which will increase the overall value of the Glyph.
Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase the glyphs with certain tools that allow unlimited use, and during Faction Crypt Raids. Each Faction Crypt has a chance to drop one of the many Glyphs as well as some rare glyphs to be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.
After you have acquired the desired Glyphs you will require them to be placed on your gear. Each Glyph unlocks a special bonus that will boost the stats of a specific set of nodes that are within the radius of the Glyph. This will either be +40 for one of your primary stats, or +25 for two of your secondary stats, based on the Glyph.
Using the Glyph will boost all nodes that are connected to it, and it is recommended to position your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximize the impact. For example that a Druid should try to place their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes, however, you may also want to consider placing them near critical damage nodes too.
Leveling
The item upgrade system allows players to boost the stats of specific items by inserting upgraded components. This is commonly known as "upping". Every upgradeable item has an amount, which determines its final upgraded stats. Upgraded items are able to be leveled up to a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each level of an item requires a different amount of components and the costs for upgrading increase as the item is leveled up.
Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by the completion of Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or bought from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used to upgrade the item. Once enough points are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When the player upgrades an item to a higher level, the original item is replaced with a new item of the same type. The same armor will be upgraded to a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item will come with a bonus of its own. This could be a disadvantage since the item may increase in price even if you do not require it.
Upgrades to items can be rerolled if the player has enough tokens to be able to do so. The item will be replaced by an entirely new item that is based on a level 1 base and totally different bonuses. This can be useful, but should not be used frequently as it can waste resources.
Some upgrades can be rerolled many times which increases their value and allowing the player to customize their gear. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides an increase in power if the player repeatedly enters or exits the water. It can be upgraded multiple times, each time increasing the max roll by 10 points. This item is very important in PvP. A perfectly rolled version can be worth up to 50x the value of its non-upgraded counterpart.
Requirements
The ability to upgrade items allows players to boost the level of their available equipment--armor, weapons, and trinkets that are above ilvl 385 by presenting the appropriate items and currencies to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces improve the strength of their base defense and upgrades to weapon items boost their base damage and also increase their strength and dexterity.
All items are upgradeable up to five times, with the exception for hero gear, which can be upgraded eight times. Each time you upgrade an item it is given the chance to fail. The failure rate increases the more you go over the maximum number of upgrades. Failures will cause the item to revert back to its original state, which will force the user to spend more materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum number of upgrades.
If an item is not upgraded, the experience bar in its growth bar will be reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it earned like chances to be crit attack damage, additional effects (such as an increase in healing over time or reloading speed). However, the user can continue to use the weapon or armor after the failure.
When an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from lowest to highest. This means that should a weapon gain an increase in its crit chance the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage. Slots is a brand-new attribute that was added to the definitions of items. The value is recalculated each time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources required to upgrade an item is based on its rarity rating and upgrade slot count. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to the value of the base item. For example an item that is commonplace could have five upgrades at a cost. 25600 Technology Points 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items have lower costs per upgrade.
Premium items have different upgrade requirements as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they might require fewer sowels but more minerals and erons. Whatever the case, players must visit the NPC [Armorthe ] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade.
